If you have a truck with a tent shell of some kind, it’s possible to have a camping experience that’s a mix of regular tent camping and sleeping under the stars. What you do is back your truck up to the campfire and open the door. Set up your sleeping bags and pillows so that your head is closest to the fire.
The great thing about this setup is that most of your body is sheltered by the shell, but your head is literally out under the stars. And you don’t have to worry as much about getting cold because the fire is right there. If your truck is raised too high, it might not work as well unless the fire is really raging, and of course the goal is not to have to maintain it all night; the goal is to sleep.
