One of my favorite pieces of gym equipment is a medicine ball. The diverse amount of exercises that can be done with one makes it one of the most versatile and useful pieces of equipment you can use or own. There are ways to incorporate a medicine ball to work out any muscle group you desire; it is most useful for abdominal work, using Shaun T’s INSANITY Workout Program.
Some great medicine ball exercises you can do include weighted sit ups. You should grab a partner and have them toss you the ball as you are sitting. Then you should lie down and sit back up and throw the ball back at them. Another great exercise is medicine ball oblique crunches. You should be sitting with your knees up and feet flat on the floor. Then you rotate your torso while holding the ball in front of you and pound the ball on the ground on either side of you. Finally another great exercise is to do prison squats while holding a medicine ball out in front of you. You should get in an athletic position with your feet shoulder width apart and your knees slightly bent. Then you should hold a medicine ball straight out in front of you with your arm parallel to the floor and your elbows locked. Then while holding this position squat down as low as you can go and then return to your starting position to finish 1 repetition.
