As we all age, after we reach a certain point it is much harder to build and strengthen lean muscle. As you probably know, your muscle begins to break down as soon as 40 years of age. This makes it extremely important that all adults have frequent physical exercise, including resistance training, to strengthen muscles and ward off aging.

Older athletes must take a lot of care when it comes to physical exercise. Injuries are harder to bounce back from in older athletes, so adequate time to warm up and cool down after exercise is a necessity to healthy and effective exercise. Rest periods of sixty to ninety seconds should also be implemented in between exercises.
All of the major muscle groups should be implemented in any regular training program, and there is no difference when it comes to seniors and older adults. Chest, shoulders, arms, core, back, and legs are all extremely important, as well as stretching the neck and ankles. Falls are a very hazardous issue for several older Americans, and a strong core and back can improve balance and may help protect them.
